First edition. Offering Volume I and Volume V of the New Series of The Dome.

In the original cloth binding. 

The Dome was a monthly magazine associated with the literature, music, architecture and graphic arts of the "Nineties" scene, edited by publisher and manager of the Unicorn Press, Ernest J. Oldmeadow. The magazine was the last example of British avant-garde publications which focused on Aestheticism, after which such magazines would focus on modernism.

Notable contributors to these volumes include 

Volume I - Containing the October, November and December issues of 1898. Notable contributions include 'The Fancy and the Fact' by Arthur H. Holmes, 'Song of Mongan' by W. B. Yeats and 'The Belfry of Bruges' by Laurence Binyon. Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-five plates, numerous of which are in colour. 

Volume V - Containing the November and December 1899 issues and January 1900 issues. Notable contributions include 'The Irish Literary Theatre, 1900' by W. B. Yeats and 'The Lover of the Queen of Sheba' by Arthur Symons. With thirty-two monochrome plates, eight of which are tipped-in, from various artists including Durer, Bernard Sleigh and Percy Bulcock. 

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities and marks to the boards. Damp spotting to the boards of Vol. V. Internally, title page-page 2 detached but present to Vol I. Pages are generally bright, with scattered spotting more concentrated throughout Vol I. Age toning to title page of Vol I. With the odd offset caused by plates to Vol V. Contemporary ownership inscription to the title pages.
