Complete in twelve volumes. Edition de luxe, limited to ten hundred and fifty copies. Each volume contains an illustrated frontispiece. The works of Alfred Lord Tennyson, an English poet who was appointed Poet Laureate for much of Queen Victoria's reign. His work continues to be some of the most celebrated in the English language. Volumes one to four consist of A Memoir, written by his son Hallam Tennyson. Volumes five to twelve contain poems written during Tennyson's time as Poet Laureate. Volume two is illustrated with three full page image. Volume three is illustrated with one full page image. Volume four is illustrated with one full page image. Collated complete.
Condition
In the original green cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and fading to the extremities. Fading to the spines with the odd small mark to the boards. Splits in the cloth to the joints with the spines of volumes one and two amateurly repaired. A crack to the front joint of volume four with light fraying to the cloth. Joints starting but firm to most volumes. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting throughout. Light age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Small sections of the text block remain unopened to the ends of volumes.
