Includes a frontispiece and 7 further plates. Collated, complete.

A scarce work written by British Protestant Grace Stott. She went to China after a marriage proposal arrived in the post. She worked in Wenzhou where she created a school for girls. The mission was struck by riots twice and a cholera epidemic.

Condition

In publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Bumping to extremities, most significant to the head and tail of the spine with small cracking to the tail of front joint. Odd mark to boards. Previous owner's book plate to front paste down. Ink inscription to rear of front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Ink inscription to first blank.
