In the original cloth binding. 

Illustrated with forty-four monochrome plates (nineteen of which are folding) and seven folding maps. Collated, complete. 

This work combines history, travel advice and discussions of the general state of the principal islands of the West Indies. With coverage of earlier voyagers, sugar cultivation, trade and commerce, climate, and populations.

Published under the auspices of the Royal Colonial Institute. 

Written by Charles Washington Eves, a British merchant prominent in the trade between London and the West Indies, and a promoter of the products of Jamaica. 




Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, hinges are starting, but firm. With darkening to the spine and damp stains to the boards. Rubbing heaviest to the spine head and tail and a large split to the cloth to the rear joint. Internally, front free endpapers are coming away partly, otherwise firmly bound. With age toning to the endpapers and scattered spotting throughout.
