A nineteenth century reference work, which includes a vast selection of sports and related topics, such as the American Cup, taxidermy and veterinary work.
Adorned with numerous illustrations in text as well as some full page plates, featuring some beautiful designs by the notorious artist, A. Thornburn.
With an additional illustrated title page to volume I, and thirty nine full page plates including frontispiece to vol. II. Collated, bound without frontispiece to vol. I.
Condition
In the original publisher's uniform full cloth bindings. Externally with shelf wear, bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities, loss to tail of spine vol. II, back strip darkened to both volumes. Pictorial ex libris bookplates to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to odd leaf, pages otherwise generally bright and clean.
