What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

The scarce first edition of this work, with vignette illustrations and eight collotype plates, all retaining captioned tissue guards. Collated, complete.

This is the work of English poet, nature writer and critic Rosamund Marriott Watson, who early in her career wrote under the pseudonyms Graham R. Tomson and Rushworth Armytage. Watson also wrote several columns on interior design and fashion—her first-ever publication, in 1883, was a column on 'modern' fashion for the Fortnightly Review, as well as contributing further articles on the subject to the Pall Mall Gazette.

These columns are collected in this work, providing the reader with an informative account of late Victorian attitudes to interior design.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to extremities and spine head and tail. Some fading to back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a little age toned, but generally bright and clean.
