Signed by the author, inscribed to the front paste down. 

A memoir on the author's life in India, who worked in India as the first Municipal Commissioner and collector of Bombay from 1865 to 1871.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, thirteen plates, and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with a torn label to the front board. Spine are rear board are faded. Light rubbing and bumping to the spine and extremities. Only a few light marks to the cloth. Front hinge is starting but firm. Author's inscription to the front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound.Pages are bright and clean. Ink notes to the list of illustrations.
