This is a historical romance novel that centers feuding Scottish families, the Kennedys of Cassillis versus the Kennedys of Bargany. A mysterious antagonist known as the Grey Man, a rival laird who wears a grey cloak and hat, manipulating both sides.
S. R. Crockett (Samuel Rutherford Crockett, 1860-1914) was a Scottish novelist best known for historical romances and adventure tales set in Scotland. He gained popularity in the late Victorian era.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities The odd spot with slight offsetting to endpapers. Bookplate of Christie Chetwynd Atkinson to front paste down. Front hinge slightly cracked, but holding. Internally, firmly bound. Hinges slightly strained in places, but firm. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to rough cut ore edge and first and last few leaves.
