With a monochrome frontispiece, sketched map and numerous monochrome plates throughout.

This was the first novel from Charles G. D. Roberts, best known for his poetry and prose and once known as the "Father of Canadian Poetry". 

The work blends romance, history and adventure set against the backdrop of the years leading up to the 1755 expulsion of the Acadians.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, excellent with slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Personal library bookplate of one Mason S. Stone to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot.
