Queen Elizabeth's School was founded by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother to King Henry VII. It is situated in Wimborne Minster, Dorset and has been open since the mid-15th century.
Profusely illustrated with in-text illustrations, a frontispiece and 14 further monochrome plates. Collated, complete.
Includes a publisher's advertisement to rear of half-title page.
Written by Commander Charles Napier Robinson, who became a journalist after retiring from the Royal Navy. As the editor for multiple Navy periodicals and a founder of the Society for Nautical Research, his published works centered on his Navy expertise, this text providing a general overview of the origins and organisation of the British Navy.
Condition
In full blue calf with gilt emblem detail and marbled endpapers. Binder's stamp to rear of first free endpaper. Externally, excellent condition. Slight rubbing and shelf wear and a small mark to the back board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with spotting concentrated towards the first and last few pages. Page 114 partially unopened.
