Maria Louise Ramé (1839-1908), known by the pseudonym Ouida, was a successful English novelist. She wrote more than 40 novels, as well as short stories, children's books and essays. In this novella, a Northern European dissident is exiled to an Italian community of thieves and squatters, in which he finds companionship with a local peasant woman.
Condition
In a quarter calf binding. Externally generally smart, though faded to the boards, with rubbing to the joints and spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for spotting to the first and last few pages.
