A musician and a poet, Samuel Lover's nonsuch novel was one of the most popular of Lover's works, following the misadventures of the naive Andy Rooney in the Irish countryside. Beginning as a stable boy, we follow Andy as he sparks comical mayhem in his community, much of the time due to innocent yet ignorant blunders.
One of the talented 'Brocks of Cambridge', Henry Brock gained a reputation for illustrating English classics, like Jane Austen's works, alongside his brother Charles Edmund. This work was one of the first in which he illustrated a novel.
