Written by Stephen Penney, a licensed Trinity House pilot and expert on ocean navigation.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing and discolouration to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a small amount of loss to the spine. Light marks to the boards and spine. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm, rear hinge is starting but firm. Institutional label to the front paste down. Publisher's inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Folding maps and plans are edge worn, with closed tears, larger tears to the folding map facing page 3, folding map facing page 13 is detached but present, small chip to the folding map facing page 25
