Originally appearing in The Gardeners' Chronicle while he was away, this book features the author's notes from his travels through India, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand. The purpose of the tour was to gain further understanding of the local vegetation, and the conditions within which they grow. Many illustrations detail the indigenous plants he found along the way. Written by James Herbert Veitch, an English horticulturalist and member of the Veitch family who were considered distinguished horticulturists and nursery-men for over a century.
