G. A. Henty was a prolific English novelist and war correspondent, renowned for his historical adventure stories for young readers. This novel centres around a young man named Gervaise Tresham, who leaves England and the turmoil of the War of the Roses to become a Knight of St. John.

Bound in signed half straight-grain morocco by Bickers & Son. Rebacked with the contemporary spine laid down. Externally, with rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Fading to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with a few scattered spots and handling marks throughout, heaviest to the first and last few pages.
