This volume is a first edition. 

Published by George Newnes, this work details a travel adventure from London bridge to Charing Cross, via Yokohama and Chicago, being an album of pictures from photographs of the chief places of interest in all parts of the world.

Illustrated with over 250 black-and-white images from photographs, accompanied by descriptive text offering historical notes and social commentary.

Among the many scenes are King William Street in Adelaide, the Old City of Barcelona, a Hawaiian yard in Honolulu, the marketplace at Antananarivo in Madagascar, and the canals of Utrecht.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial red cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Slight blistering to boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to cloth. Slight rubbing to boards. The odd handling mark and one or two damp spots to boards Slight fading to extremities. Spine slightly faded. Spotting to endpapers. Front hinge at title page cracked, with binding materials exposed with blue paper residue to gutter. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges strained in places, but holding. Previous owner's small colour pencil annotation to title page. The odd previous owner's pen inscription of the country in which the photographs were taken to the upper perimeter of pages with photographs. Pages otherwise bright and clean with the odd handling mark and spot, heavier to fore edges and first and last few leaves.
