British soldier and amateur artist General Sir John Miller Adye served in the Crimean War, the Indian Mutiny, the Aghan Wars and the Anglo-Egyptian War.
In this work, he describes his military experiences from 1854 to 1882.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, three maps, and eleven plates. Collated, complete.
With six pages of advertisements to the rear.
With a tipped in publisher's notice to the front free endpaper.
Adye further described his personal experiences in such works as 'A Review of the Crimean War' and 'Sitana: A Mountain Campaign on the Borders of Afghanistan in 1863'.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright. Pencil notations throughout, most frequently to margins and to rectos of maps.
