The first collection of children's nursery rhymes beautifully illustrated by Randolph Caldecott. Illustrated throughout with numerous colour images. Comprised of eight much-loved verses, including The Diverting History of John Gilpin, The House that Jack Built, An Elegy on the Death of a Mad Dog, The Babes in the Wood, The Three Jovial Huntsmen, Sing a Song for Sixpence, The Queen of Hearts, and The Farmer's Boy. Written and illustrated by Randolph Caldecott, a British artist and illustrator, renowned for his book illustration. The Caldecott Medal was named in his honour. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and light spotting to the fore-edge. Further spotting to the endpapers.
