Honoré de Balzac (1799–1850) was a pioneering French novelist and playwright whose vast cycle of interconnected stories transformed the modern novel, influencing writers from Dickens to Proust.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, smart. The odd handling mark to boards. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight offsetting to endpapers. The odd slight scratch to boards. Handling marks heavier to boards of “Catherine.” The odd spot of damp staining to front board of “Relations: Volume I.” Slight tearing to upper edge of front board or “Poor Relations Second Episode.” Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned. One or two spots to first and last few leaves and rough cut fore edges.
