Four smart volumes from The Magazine of Art, comprising the years 1895-1898. 

This monthly British journal offers reviews exhibitions and articles relating to artists across all branches of the visual arts, as well as some poetry.

Uniformly bound in half morocco, with cloth boards and decorative gilt to the spines.

The works were also lavishly illustrated throughout by leading wood engravers of the period, such as William Biscombe Gardner.

Each volume is heavily illustrated: frontispiece and thirteen plates to 1895; frontispiece and nineteen plates to 1896; frontispiece and eight plates to 1896-1897, and a frontispiece and eighteen plates to 1898. With numerous in-text photographs and illustrations throughout the set. Collated, complete.
