A detailed travelogue of the author's own experiences on the road to Kashmir, through the Western Himalayan Range, Baltistan, Nanga Parbat, Hunza, and Rawal Pindi.

Written by Edward Frederick Knight, an English barrister, soldier, journalist, and author. His written works are mainly based on his dispatches as a war correspondent.

This work focuses on the interactions between the British, Russian, and Chinese empires in the region, including Knight's participation in Colonel Durand's expedition against the Hunza-Nagara.

Contains twenty-three pages of original publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work.

Condition

In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, mostly smart with the front board illustration faded. Slight shelf wear. The odd handling mark. Fading to text on spine. Spine rebacked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Contains prior owner Francis E. B. Witts' bookplate to front and rear paste downs. With twenty-three pages of original publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work.
