The ninth edition of this work, which was first published in 1870.
The work of English illustrator, author and poet Edward Lear, most renowned for his literary nonsense verses, in particular his limericks. 'The Owl and the Pussycat' is amongst his famous poems, and is included in this volume.
Illustrated throughout by Lear himself.
Undated; dated 1894 via Jisc.
With additional songs and an introduction by Sir E. Strachey.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with boards lightly age toned. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright, with light handling marks and the odd spot throughout.
