The first edition of this collection of short tales from Thomas Hardy. Sadleir, 1110

Consisting of eight short tales and nine accounts of 'a few crusted characters'. Including Hardy's popular tales 'A Tragedy Of Two Ambitions' and 'The Fiddler of the Reels'.

In the publisher's original cloth, featuring a charming art-nouveau floral design from Charles Ricketts to the front board.

With a single page of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with rubbing to joints, and fading to tail of fore edge of front board. Hinges strained, with rear board firmly held, and front somewhat tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, but clean.
