Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece, and with vignettes from Lear's' Book of Nonsense throughout.
A delightful volume in which blank spaces intended for children to fill in the dates of birthdays of their friends is accompanied by illustrations and quotations from Lear's 'Book of Nonsense'.
178 pages feature the handwritten names of people who have birthdays, many accompanied by tiny cut out portrait photographs of individuals.
Rebacked, with back strip laid down, and endpapers renewed.
Former owner's inscription dated 1896 to the half title.
Condition
Rebacked, with the publishers original cloth back strip laid down, retaining original boards. Endpapers renewed. Significant rubbing to boards and back strip, with the gilt lettering significantly dulled. Internally firmly bound. Inscription to half title. Pages lightly age toned, with handling marks and the odd spot throughout, and with former owner's ink inscriptions to 178 pages, and small cut out photographs accompanying a number of names.
