A very scarce novel, of which this is the presumed first edition. 

In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. 

Undated, dated from an identical copy held at the British Library. 

This copy is illustrated with a frontispiece, five plates and numerous in-text illustrations.

This story follows a group of ten high-class siblings who must navigate life after their father, a wealthy banker, passes. 

With romantic plots centring around Ruth, one of the sisters, and Clement, who comes from a poorer background. 

With a sixteen page catalogue of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, smart, with darkening to the spine. Rubbing and bumping to the extremities, heaviest to the spine head and tail. Front hinge is starting but firm. Marks to the boards and a contemporary presentation bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional handling marks.
