This edition features a portrait frontispiece of Priscilla Burghersh by Walker & Boutall, 1813, and two other portraits, one of Lord Burghersh, and one of Arthur, Marquis of Wellington. Collated, complete.
The Letters of Lady Burghersh is a compelling collection of letters penned by Priscilla Anne Fane (née Wellesley-Pole), later Countess of Westmorland. Published in 1893 by John Murray and edited by her daughter, Lady Rose Weigall, offering an intimate, firsthand account of the later stages of the Napoleonic War, as experienced by a well-connected Englishwoman traveling through Europe.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Some discolouration evident on pale cloth binding. Slight rubbing to boards with minor discoloration to perimeters. The odd minor handling mark and spot to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, a little age toned to perimeters. One or two spots, heavier to fore edge.
