Third edition. Kipling's first collection of short stories. A total of forty short stories including the first appearances, in book form, of Mrs. Hauksbee, the policeman Strickland, and the Soldiers Three. Some of the characters in these stories also appear in the novel Kim. Written by Joseph Rudyard Kipling, an English novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist best known as the author of the Jungle Book and the Just So Stories.

Condition

In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Light loss to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine as well as the board tips. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small handling mark and light age toning to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1905.
