A charming trio of late-Victorian fairy and folk-tale collections drawn from Russian, Cossack, and Turkish oral traditions, translated and adapted by the prolific folklorist R. Nisbet Bain. With two first editions, and one second edition, compromising: 

Cossack Fairy Tales and Folk-Tales (1894). The first edition. Selected, edited, and translated by R. Nisbet Bain. Illustrated with a frontispiece and featuring numerous in-text and full-page illustrations by E. W. Mithcell.

Russian Fairy Tales from the Skazki of Polevi by R. Nisbet Bain. (1893). The second edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and five plates by C. M. Gere. Collated, complete. 

Turkish Fairy Tales and Folk Tales (1896). First edition. Collected by Dr. Ignacz Kunos, Translated from the Hungarian version by R. Nisbet Bain. Illustrated by Celia Levetus.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Previous owner’s contemporary ink inscription to half title of “Cossack.” Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Slight fading and discolouration to perimeters and spines. The odd slight handling mark to spines. Slight loss to cloth and marking to head of spine of “Cossack.” Front and rear hinge of Cossacks cracked, with binding materials slightly exposed, but holding. The odd spot and slight offsetting to endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with one or two spots and handling marks.
