This ornithological volume details migration patterns, records and habits of various birds commonly found in the county of Lancashire.
Written by F. S. Mitchell, a member of the British Ornithologists' Union. With additions by Henry Eliot Howard, an English amateur ornithologist, noted for being one of the first to describe territoriality behaviours in birds in a detailed manner.
From the library of W. H. Mullens (1866-1946), a British ornithologist and author of 'A Geographical Bibliography of British Ornithology from the Earliest Times to the End of 1912' (1917).
With four pages of advertisements to the rear. Several leaves uncut.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities, most notable to the spine head and tail. Bookplate of one W. H. Mullens to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to the endpapers and the odd spot. Uncut leaves throughout. 'British Ornithologists' Union' plate to the verso of the front free endpaper.
