The second reprint of this uncommon work, being the third edition.
First published in 1878, this is a detailed presentation on the old records found within the India Office, as the author had been given papers for classification. Such reports include court minutes, papers relating to the legal affairs of the company, papers concerning the foreign relations of the company, factory records, and more.
Illustrated with two colour folding maps, two colour plates, and five monochrome plates. Collated, complete.
Compiled by Sir George Birdwood, an Anglo-Indian official and naturalist who served as the first Sheriff of Bombay from 1846 to 1858.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with marks and discolouration to the cloth, including a ring mark to the front board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light rubbing to the cloth. Dampstain to the spine. Small puncture marks to the rear board. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a few light handling marks. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
