Illustrated by William Hole with a monochrome vignette to the title page and thirteen monochrome etched plates. Collated, complete.
Bound in full calf by Root & Son with their binder's stamp to the front blank, with the original cloth covers and spine bound in to the rear.
This novel was written by the author of the beloved 'Peter Pan' books, with this being one of a few novels set in the fictional village of 'Thrums', inspired by the town where his mother grew up. The story is told by a schoolteacher from the village.
Condition
Bound in full calf, with the original cloth covers and spine bound in to the rear. Externally faded to the spine and rear board, slight marks, and slight rubbing to the extremities and joints. Front joint cracked at the head. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with light spotting to the front and rear only.
