A limited edition, being number 144 out of five hundred and fifty copies printed. 

Illustrated by William Hole with a monochrome vignette to the title page and thirteen monochrome etched plates. Collated, complete.

This novel was written by the author of the beloved 'Peter Pan' books, with this being one of a few novels set in the fictional village of 'Thrums', inspired by the town where his mother grew up. The story is told by a schoolteacher from the village.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with only the odd slight mark to the boards, and slight bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Offsetting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with generally bright and clean pages with spotting to the front and rear blanks, and only the odd minor handling mark throughout.
