Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding

Offering a wonderful selection of cookery books, ranging from traditional British cuisine to Chinese recipes, breakfast menus, and basic hints for the kitchen. 

In the original cloth bindings. 

A unique title included here is 'Chinese Cookery' by M. P. Lee (Li Mengping) which contain recipes designed to meet the needs of British people. Mengping was a diplomat based at the Chinese Embassy in London and in the appendix he provides the names and addresses of Chinese restaurants and shops in London. 

Also included here is Molly Castle's ventures abroad in the years between WWI and 1936. She gives the occasional recipe alongside descriptions of her travels in Paris, Cornwall, Mexico and Hollywood, with one chapter even recounting her conversations with a Klu Klux Klan member.

Condition

In the original cloth bindings. Externally, smart. With only mild rubbing and bumping to majority of volumes, with fading or spotting to the spines of 'Uncommon', 'Good Housekeeping', 'Breakfasts' and 'Everybody's Dinner Book'. 'Breakfasts' also has a damp stain to the rear board and loss to the spine head. Front hinge starting but firm to 'Dinner Book'. Internally, binding tender in places to 'Dinner Book'. All other volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with offsetting to most endpapers. Ownership bookplate of ones Martin and Pamela Finch to the front free endpapers of 'Uncommon', 'Every Cook', and 'Chinese Cookery'. Age toning to 'Sweetmeat' and scattered spotting to the first and last few leaves of 'Round the World'.
