A very scarce first edition of this work. 

In the publisher's original gilt-decorated cloth binding.

With a monochrome frontispiece and five plates. Collated, complete. 

This novel follows ten-year-old orphaned Vera who goes to live with her Uncle Rupert. However, her happiness is marred by her uncle's deteriorating sight and the presence of her wicked cousin Spencer.

Written by English author of children's stories, Mary Louisa Molesworth, under the name of Mrs Molesworth.

Condition

In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a few spots to the first couple leaves.
