Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The first English translation of this work.

The first German edition appeared early in 1890, and was followed by three editions in an abridged form. This translation is made from the unabridged edition, with a few emendations from the subsequent editions.

Translated by Arthur Ransom.

In the original cloth binding.

Theodor Hertzka, a Jewish-Hungarian-Austrian economist and journalist, proposes here an experiment for the International Free Society involving a Utopian new society in East Africa. The publication encouraged a number of local organisations to be created among the larger towns and cities across Austria and Germany, united in what was known as the Freeland movement.

With a thirty-two page catalogue of advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with minor fading to the spine. Rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot concentrated to the first and last couple leaves.
