This beautifully illustrated work presents the flowers of the Engadine, an Alpine valley region in the Swiss Alps, in the canton of Graubünden. Comprised of a list of flowers, an index of latin names and two-hundred-and-twenty-three coloured plates, drawn by the author. Lacking plate CCXIX, with all others accounted for.
Written and illustrated by Evelyn D. Heathcote, a member of the Heathcote family of Hursley, who was known for his interest in the natural sciences.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, sound, with slight rubbing to the extremities and joints. Bumping to the extremities and to the spine, causing small tears to the head and tail of the spine and a tear to the rear joint. Front board is bowed, with a small crack to the head. Hinges are a little strained, but holding. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the occasional handling mark or small pencil annotation.
