A detailed account of Edward Frederick Knight's voyage to Trinidade in a 64-foot yawl named the Alerte.
At the time, it was the only detailed written account of the island, describing it as if it was uninhabited despite it being populated at the time.
The work is illustrated with a frontispiece of the Alerte, seventeen monochrome plates, five in-text woodcuts and two further plates containing coloured maps.
Collated, complete.
With sixteen pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. With light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and discolouration to the spine. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot.
