Illustrated with seven illustrated plates, and with a folding map to the rear. Collated, complete.
In this work, Susan St Maur, Duchess of Somerset, provides an account of a journey made over several months across Canada in the company of her husband, the Duke of Somerset.
She provides a vivid description of Canadian life and culture in the late nineteenth century.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with bumping to back strip head and tail, and a touch of cockling to the tail of the front board. Small closed tear to cloth at back strip head. Inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with a small number of leaves unopened to the head. Significant closed tears to fore edge of folding map.
