The first edition.

Complete in three volumes, uniformly bound in half morocco

An impressive study of the Royal Navy as it was towards the end of the Victorian era, by officer of the Indian Navy Charles Rathbone Low.

Volume I is illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, a chromolithograph title, and fourteen chromolithograph plates. 

Volume II is illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, a chromolithograph title, and twelve chromolithograph plates. 

Volume III is illustrated with a chromolithograph frontispiece, a chromolithograph title, and fourteen chromolithograph plates. 

Collated, complete.

These illustrations are by W. Christian Symons and W. Fred Mitchell.

Condition

In half morocco bindings, with cloth covered boards. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with handling marks to page perimeters throughout, and instances of light spotting.
