With two black and white illustrations, including a portrait frontispiece of Meredith. Collated, complete. 

Includes a biography by John Lane. 

George Meredith was an English novelist and poet of the Victorian era. At first, his focus was poetry, influenced by John Keats among others, but Meredith gradually established a reputation as a novelist. 

With 'the publisher's compliments' ink inscription to the front free end paper.

Contains eight pages of original publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth with gilt text to the spine. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright with marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. With 'the publisher's compliments' ink inscription to front free end paper. Contains eight pages of original publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work.
