Complete in two volumes. Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece and vignette title page. Volume one also contains a map of Abbotsford. Collated complete. The journal of Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish historian, novelist, poet, and playwright whose works remain classics of European and Scottish literature. He is best remembered for the novels Ivanhoe (1819), Rob Roy (1817), and The Heart of Mid-Lothian (1818), along with the narrative poems Marmion (1808) and The Lady of the Lake (1810). From the original manuscripts. Previously held in the library of Drygrange House, Scotland.
Condition
In the original full brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor rubbing to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Previous owner's bookplate and bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
