First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and nine plates. Collated complete. A detailed exploration of the history of All Saints' church in Maidstone, a grand, Grade I listed building which still welcomes a congregation today. Presenting the monuments, the parish, the architecture and the altar-tombs, as well as many other aspects of the building. Written by John Cave-Browne, a British chaplain and archaeologist. Dated from the British Library. Previously held in the library of Grevile Mairis Livett, an English cleric who was appointed Vicar of Wateringbury and Honorary Canon of Rochester.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd mark to the cloth. Small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Further spotting and age toning to the first and last few pages. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
