Description
Illustrated, Very Scarce
A very scarce work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, headpieces and tailpieces, and two plates by Frank Dadd (1851-1929). He worked as an illustrator for the Illustrated London News from 1878 until 1884.
Mary Bradford Whiting (1864-1935) was the daughter of notable hymn writer, the Rev. John Bradford Whiting. She wrote numerous religious works, including this novel, mainly for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge.
Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library. Three pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, bright and smart, with light shelf wear to the boards and spine. Gilt remains bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages.
