'Queen Hildegarde' is a charming novel, following the journey of personal growth of a spoilt young girl from New York City, Hildegarde, as she is sent to stay with her mother's old nurse in the country whilst her parents take a trip to California. The novel sees her mature and learn valuable life lessons.
The author, Laura E. Richards, went on to write four 'Hildegarde' sequels; 'Hildegarde's Holiday', 'Hildegarde's Home', 'Hildegarde's Neighbours', and 'Hildegarde's Harvest'.
Richards was an American novelist who wrote more than ninety works during her career, including more children's books, as well as biographies and poetry.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is faded. A small amount of loss to the head of the spine. Light rubbing to the spine. A few light marks to the boards. Front hinge is staring but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, a little strained in places. Pages are bright and clean. Front blank and frontispiece are detached but present. Presentation inscription to the head of the title page.
