In a prize binding for Southampton University, with a prize label to the recto of the front endpaper, dated 1888.

Charles Kingsley's popular historical novel, an adventurous tale which follows the Anglo-saxon figure Hereward, as he is leading the resistance against the Normans.

The novel was originally serialised in 'Good Words' from January to December 1865.

Condition

In a prize calf binding. Externally, smart, with light marks and rubbing to the boards and spine. Small chips to the front joint. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spine is faded. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prize label to the recto of the front endpaper. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
