Alexander William Kinglake's first literary venture, Eothen is a successful travel narrative recounting his journeys through Syria, Palestine, and Egypt with his Eton contemporary Lord Pollington, first published in 1844.

Alexander William Kinglake (1809–1891) was an English historian and barrister, best known for his monumental work The Invasion of the Crimea.

Condition

Bound in a full morocco binding. Externally, smart. slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, with very slight chipping to head of spine to the front joint. Spine slightly faded. The odd spot of damp staining to rear board. One or two very minor handling marks to boards. The odd spot to endpapers. Previous owner's contemporary ink inscription to from free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned with one or two spots to first and last few leaves.
