This is a charmingly illustrated collection of stories relating to the Christian saints and martyrs which aims to give an account of all peoples 'under the banner' of Jesus Christ. It includes specific chapters on Saint Gregory, the First Crusade, and Emperor Theodosius.
Condition
In the original publisher's decorative cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with rubbing, as well as fading and discolouration to the rear board and spine resulting in a bleached corner of the cloth where the joint meets the spine's tail. Slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. Internally, binding is strained. Pages are a trifle age toned however generally bright and clean, with some light handling marks and the odd spot, heaviest to the outer leaves.
