This work is a vanishingly scarce, and is currently the only copy available. There are no copies held institutionally.

Founded in Chicago in 1869, Libby, McNeill & Libby rose to prominence by pioneering the commercial canning of meats, starting with corned beef and later expanding to include beef and pork tongues. This pamphlet was published to inspire customers with creative and practical ways to prepare their wide range of canned products.

Recipes include: Delicious Hash, Corned Beef Croquettes, Corned Beef Salad, Minced Collops, Collop Sandwiches, Tripe in Cream Sauce, Chipped Beef Omelet, Baked Chipped Beef with Tomatoes, Tongue Salad, Tongue Toast, Libby’s Oxtail Soup, and many more.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper wraps. Externally, very smart. Wraps slightly soiled with one or to very minor handling marks. Two closed tears to rear, one reinforced with tape. Bookplate from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique" inserted before title page. Two small marks to title page. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages age toned, but clean, with the odd spot to fore edge.
