One of the most popular poets of his time, Cowper changed the direction of eighteenth-century nature poetry by writing of everyday life and scenes of the English countryside. This collection includes titles such as: Table Talk, Hope, Retirement, The Symptoms of Love, Song On Peace, Human Frailty, and many others. Illustrated by Hugh Cameron, a Scottish artist who specialised in figurative scenes. Bound by Relfe Brothers, London.

Condition

Bound in full calf. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, further spotting to the first and last few pages. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper with the odd pencil annotation or mark throughout. Bound by Relfe Brothers, London.
