An extraordinarily popular novel upon its release, never out of print since, the narrative follows an explorer and his ward to a lost kingdom in the African interior, encountering a primitive race of natives and a queen names 'Ayesha'. Through this novel, Haggard developed many of the conventions of the popular 'lost world' genre.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Boards bright, with bumps to back strip head and tail, and small hole in cloth to centre of rear joint. Head of rear joint starting, with board firmly held. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, with only the odd spot.
